Reserving a place | Stage 1

Admission Stage 1 only 

Persons admitted in admission Stage 1 are entitled to reserve their assigned place. 

Thus, from 11 to 28 April  2025, both included, they must pay 300 € to reserve their place, which will later be deducted from the total cost of registration; should this payment not be made, the right to reserve the assigned place will be lost. The procedure to formalise payment will be given in the published final admission lists. 

Exemptions from this reservation fee: persons who are part of a special "large family" category; people with a recognized degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%; people who have been victims of terrorism, as well as their spouses and children; people who have suffered disabling injuries due to their participation in international peace and security operations, as well as their spouses and children; people who have been victims of gender-based violence, as well as their children; asylum-seekers and refugees; people who receive the Minimum Living Income or the Aragonese Supplement to the Minimum Living Income. 

If you pay to reserve a place on several University Master's Degrees, once you have enrolled on one of them, you can request a refund of the amount paid for the others. Address the refund request to the corresponding centre through the Electronic Registration https://regtel.unizar.es/ on the official return form for this purpose. 

Applicants who do not obtain a place in Stage 1 and those who have obtained a place by admission or appeal but fail to pay the reservation fee must submit a new application for admission for Stage 2.

Assessment of applications

At each admission stage, people who meet the general access and specific admission requirements may be admitted to a Master's Degree in accordance with the assessment criteria established in the verification report for that Master's degree.

The Master's advisory committee or, where applicable, the organisation mentioned in the verification report will review the applications received based on the relevant assessment criteria, considering the documents provided by the applicants, and shall submit an admission proposal to the head of the corresponding centre.

Preference of applications

In each of the admission stages, preference is given to applicants who are in possession of the official qualification that gives them access to the Master's degree, so that in the admissions lists qualified graduates will appear ahead of those with graduate studies in the Spanish University System who still have to complete 9 ECTS and the Final Degree Project.

However, applicants who access degrees with unfinished studies providing proof of being in possession of the official qualification that gives them access to the Master's Degree at the end of the modification period (depending on the admission Stage involved) will be added to the graduate group.

Required documents

The following documents must accompany the admission application:

a) A photocopy of a current DNI, NIE or passport.

b) The university certificate for completed access studies or proof of having requested it or, where appropriate, the Official approval credential or Certification of declaration of equivalence at an academic level, issued by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

c) The official academic certificate for the studies completed (to include the marks and average score on file, on a scale of 0 to 10).

For people who are studying an official university degree in the Spanish University System (SUE) in the 2021-2022 academic year and have enrolled for all the credits necessary to finish the studies in that year, having a maximum of 9 ECTS and the Final Degree Project to finish their course, this certificate must indicate that they are registered for all the credits necessary to complete their studies and the number of credits outstanding.

  • When the academic record is from the University of Zaragoza, submission of the documents referred to in sections a), b) and c) above will not be required.

d) Current Curriculum vitae (EXCEPT for the Master's Degree in Teaching).

For University master's degrees that include specific language requirements in their verification report, documents must be provided attesting the applicant's level in the language or languages that the Master's Degree requires in its report.

Applicants holding an official certificate issued by an EHEA institution and the European Diploma Supplement (SET) may provide this Supplement in lieu of the documents referred to in subsections b) and c) above.

 

Additional documentation:

  • People who enter the quota reserved for students with disabilities - with a degree of disability equal or superior to 33% - must present a certificate of qualification and recognition of this degree, issued by the competent authority in the Autonomous Region or by any other competent body in this matter under Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013, of 29 November, which approves the consolidated text of the General Law of Rights of persons with disabilities and their social inclusion.

The needs of students with permanent special educational needs associated with personal circumstances of disability will be certified through a report issued by the administrative unit or disability service office at the university where they studied previously, detailing the resources and aid required for them to be fully immersed in university academic life.

  • People joining with a foreign higher education degree obtained in an education system outside the EHEA, which is not approved or declared equivalent must additionally provide the following:

- Resolution of the "authorised access" issued by the University of Zaragoza or, failing that, proof of having started the application process for "authorised access" at this university.

  • In the event that the grading system for the official academic certificate is different to its Spanish equivalent, applicants must provide the "Declaration of equivalence of the average mark for university studies undertaken in foreign centres" which can be obtained from the following portal:

  • Failure to provide the declaration of equivalence will not prevent the applicant from participating in the admission process, as in such cases their average mark shall be considered a 5.

  •  When the Master's Degree is taught in Spanish and the mother tongue is not Spanish, a document proving sufficient Spanish language ability must be provided.

Foreign documents:

University degrees and official certifications issued abroad, must be legalised through diplomatic channels; in the case of countries that have signed the Andrés Bello agreement, legalisation from the Spanish Foreign Office is not necessary. Diplomatic legalisation can be replaced by the Hague Apostille, if the applicant comes from a signatory country of this agreement.

The documents must be accompanied by the corresponding translation into Spanish by a sworn translator, except if they are issued in English or French.

The legalisation requirement shall not apply to documents issued by the authorities of the Member States of the European Union or signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

  • NOTE: Following BREXIT, documents issued by the United Kingdom must follow the procedure that is applicable to states that are not members of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, so must be legalised through diplomatic channels or through the Hague Apostille.

How to provide documentation

People making applications through the Internet are providing their identification data and other access requirements in advance; presentation of a simple copy of the required documents is considered sufficient and must be in electronic format through the service offered by the internet program.

If subsequently admitted to a University Master's Degree, applicants must proceed to verify the documents, sending the original and a copy or a certified copy or authentic electronic copy of the required documents for comparison to the secretariat at the corresponding university centre within ten academic days from registration, notwithstanding the powers of verification, control and inspection attributed to the University of Zaragoza at any stage.

In accordance with the provisions of the fourth paragraph of article 69 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure for Public Administrations, any essential inaccuracy, misrepresentation or omission in any information, statement or document that is accompanied by or incorporated in the above mentioned communication will make it impossible to continue exercising the right from the moment the University becomes aware. This will lead to the cancellation of the place awarded, without prejudice to any criminal, civil or administrative liability procedures that may be initiated.

Access with foreign studies obtained outside the European Higher Education Area (not standardised) (*)

Anyone wishing to access Master's Degree studies at the University of Zaragoza and in possession of a foreign higher education qualification obtained in an education system OUTSIDE the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) analogous to a Bachelor's degree that has not been approved or declared equivalent by the Ministry of Education must obtain "authorised access" to the University of Zaragoza - following a check to ensure the level of training implied by this qualification - provided that the qualification allows access to postgraduate university studies in the country where it is issued.

However, as "authorised access" must be obtained before the final admissions list is published, you are recommended to present your request at the following times (depending on the Admission stage in which you wish to participate):

The application must be sent online through the University of Zaragoza Electronic Administration SOLICITA@ Service [https://ae.unizar.es

], completing the online form: "Authorised access to official Master's studies with a non-standardised foreign qualification obtained outside the EHEA". 

This service is accessed using administrative credentials, which comprise a user (PIN) and an administrative password. People without these passwords must first register in the University of Zaragoza ‘identity’ system:

  1. Access the Service from this URL: https://ae.unizar.es/

  2. Select “REQUEST@ (Request management)”

  3. On the “Options” menu select “Start New Request”

  4. Identify yourself with the credentials valid for this University: PIN + administrative password

  5. In the “Catalogue of applications classified by categories” option, select “Undergraduate, Master, PhD, etc. students”.

  6. Select the “Master's Degree Authorised Access with a Foreign Degree” form

  7. Fill in the required details in the form.

  8. Upload the documents detailed below

 Documents to accompany application

The online application process requires the following documents to be provided in electronic format [pdf, jpg, tiff].

a) Documents certifying the identity and nationality of the applicant; depending on the nationality and its circumstances, this may be a DNI, the national document of your country (European Union countries), passport or, where appropriate, an equivalent document.

b) Qualification to be verified or certificate validating its issuance.

c) Academic certificate for the studies pursued by the applicant to obtain the qualification to be verified, which includes, among other things, the official duration in academic years of the study programme followed, the subjects studied, the number of hours involved in each subject and their marks.

Previous university studies completed must have a minimum duration of 3 complete academic years, and 180 ECTS or 1800 teaching hours.

d) Certification that proves the degree gives access to postgraduate studies in the issuing country.

The applicant may be required to provide any complementary documents deemed necessary to substantiate their studies, per the terms in Article 73 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure for Public Administrations.

Document requirements

The documents provided must be official and issued by competent authorities, as legally appropriate in the country concerned, and must be accompanied, where appropriate, by the corresponding translation into Spanish by a sworn translator, except if they are issued in English or French.

The documents referred to above in paragraphs b) and c) (Qualification and academic certificate) must be presented legalised through diplomatic channels; in the case of countries that have signed the Andrés Bello agreement, legalisation by the Spanish Foreign Office is not necessary.

Diplomatic legalisation can be replaced by the Hague Apostille, if the applicant comes from a signatory country of this agreement.

The documents provided shall be considered as copies. In case of doubt about their authenticity, validity or content, the University reserves the right to request the originals from the applicant, in order to take the necessary steps to verify them.

Fees

Applicants must pay the fee listed in the Government of Aragon Decree that establishes the public price for the provision of university academic services that is applicable at the time of submitting the application (€150) for a check of the documents provided for access to the official University of Zaragoza Master's degree courses with foreign higher education studies that have not been standardised (obtained in an educational system not in the EHEA).

Payment must be made online (by credit card) during the application process for authorised access.

Decision deadline

There will be a three month period in which to resolve the procedure and notify the applicant from the date of submission of the application. This period may be suspended in the cases provided for in Article 22 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure for Public Administrations.

Decision

The decision taken on the procedure to access the corresponding courses, which may be positive or negative, will be adopted by the presidency of the University of Zaragoza Commission of Postgraduate Studies, operating by delegation of the Rector.

Effects of the decision

A favourable decision authorising access shall under no circumstances imply approval or the equivalence of the qualification in possession of the applicant to either a university qualification or equivalence at an academic level; nor shall it be recognised for any purpose other than studying the official University Master's courses at the University of Zaragoza.

A favourable decision authorising access does not, in any case, imply direct admission onto any University Master's course.

Access and admission requirements

General access requirements

Access to official University Master's courses at the University of Zaragoza is achieved by meeting certain of the following requirements:

a) Having an official Spanish university degree or another Spanish Master's Degree.

b) Having an official Spanish university degree obtained under curricula previous to the current organization of university education: Bachelor, Architect, Engineer, Diploma, Technical Architect or Technical Engineer.

c) Having a foreign tertiary education qualification analogous to an official Spanish university degree or declared equivalent to a Bachelor's or Master's Degree by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

d) Having a Bachelor's or Master's degree from universities or higher education institutions from a country in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), which allows access to Master's studies in that country.

  • After BREXIT, the United Kingdom remains in the EHEA.

  • When accessing a Master's degree that enables the undertaking of a regulated profession, the foreign degree must be approved or declared equivalent to the academic level of the Spanish Degree by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

e) Having a foreign higher education qualification obtained from an education system outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that is equivalent to the Bachelor's degree, without the need for approval or declaration of equivalence, and having obtained the corresponding resolution of "authorised access" to official University of Zaragoza Master's courses - following a check to ensure the level of training implied by this qualification - provided that the qualification allows access to postgraduate university studies in the country where it is issued.

Previous university studies completed must have a minimum duration of 3 complete academic years and 180 credits.

If "authorised access" has yet to be obtained when submitting the application for admission in Stage 1 or Stage 2, the applicant must prove they have started the corresponding process; in this case, the place that may correspond will be conditional on proof that the "authorised access" has been obtained by the end of the modification period established for admission Stage 2. The time limit for modification of applications for admission submitted at Stage 3 shall be that relating to that Stage.

Failure to obtain "authorised access" in the modification period will exclude the applicant from the admission process in the corresponding Stage.

Under no circumstances does regulated access in this section mean approval or recognition of the qualification obtained previously by the applicant to be used for any purpose other than meeting the access requirements for a University Master's course at the University of Zaragoza.

  • This type of access is not valid for University Master's degrees that enable the undertaking of a regulated profession.

f) Likewise, people who are studying an official university degree in the Spanish University System [SUE] in the 2022-2023 academic year may access the courses if they have all the registered credits necessary for completion of studies on their course and have a maximum of 9 ECTS and the Final Degree Project left to complete their studies. 

Previous university studies must have a minimum duration of 3 full academic years. 

If there are more than 9 credits and the Final Degree Project to be completed at the time of the admission application period in Stage 1 or Stage 2, the place that may correspond to the applicant will be conditional on proving they have no more than 9 credits and the Final Degree Project to complete their studies at the end of the modification period established for admission Stage 2; in the case of applicants involved in admission Stage 3, the time limit for modification will be as per that Stage.

Failure to obtain certification in the access requirement modification period detailed here will exclude the applicant from the admission process in the corresponding Stage.

In accordance with the provisions of article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021, no-one accessing the University Master's by this route will be able to obtain the degree if they do not already have the qualification that grants them access.

 

Specific admission requirements

In addition to meeting the general access requirements, applicants must meet the specific requirements detailed in the verification report for each Master's Degree.

Language requirements

If applying for admission to a Master's Degree taught in Spanish at the University of Zaragoza and your mother tongue is not Spanish, you must present documents attesting to sufficient knowledge of the Spanish language to follow the classes. An interview may be held to verify your Spanish language ability. When a check of specific Spanish language ability is required for the Master's degree requested, this level is assessed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

In those University Master's degrees that are taught totally or partially in languages other than Spanish, applicants must provide documents accrediting the level of knowledge of the languages required in the verification report for the Master's course.  

  • Master's Degree in Teaching:  People applying for admission to the Teaching Master's whose mother tongue is not Spanish must have knowledge of Spanish that allows them to follow classes adequately. An interview may be held to check language ability.

Summary

a) The cost of registration will be calculated by multiplying the number of credits applied for by their value, based on the amount of lab-based practical work.

Receiving payment for registration gives students the right to two exam sittings for each subject for which they have registered.

b) Secretarial Dues: Paid in the first registration period.

Public Prices Oversight

 

Accident Insurance

Students aged over 28 are not covered by the student insurance, so they must underwrite an accident insurance policy.

Procurement of insurance is the responsibility and obligation of the student; this must be done directly and a copy of the policy or receipt for this policy given to the secretary at the centre along with all other registration documents. By way of information, the University of Zaragoza offers the possibility of taking out insurance with the following companies:

Persons covered

All Spanish students under the age of 28 who are pursuing official university studies in Spain and those on work placement in companies.

General requirements 

  • Be under the age of 28, although the policy will cover the full year in which the student turns 28.
  • Be Spanish or a foreigner who is legally resident in Spain.
  • Have paid the corresponding student insurance quota (€1.12).
  • Students defending their End of Bachelor's Degree or End of Master's Project in the last term in the calendar year must pay for the corresponding student insurance if they are under the age of 28; if they are over the age of 28, they must underwrite an accident insurance policy.

Payment method & non-payment

Registration should be paid for either in a single payment or as 4 separate payments. Split payments must be made by direct debit.

 A) By direct debit:

 For the self-registration programme, please give the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) for the bank account being used for payments.

 Pay in either a single payment or as 4 separate payments:

  • 30% (registration date).
  • 25% in the 1st week of October.
  • 25% in the 1st week of November.
  • 20% in the 1st week of December.

 B) Payment by promissory note through a financial institution

Print 2 copies of the promissory note to make payment within three days in any branch of the following financial institutions: in Zaragoza and Huesca – Ibercaja (Grupo Ibercaja); In Teruel – Ibercaja (Grupo Ibercaja) and Caja Rural de Teruel.

Students must choose one of the following options:

  • Present the promissory note to a teller and pay in cash or, if they have an account with the bank, pay from their account; by way of a receipt, one of the promissory notes will be returned duly validated.
  • If they have an account with the bank, payment could be made at an ATM with an optical reader. After inserting your bank book or card, choose the bill payment option and follow the instructions given. Pass the bar code over the ATM reader, which will then immediately add the charge to the account used. Keep the ATM receipt as proof of payment.

 C) VPT payment using a credit/debit card

Ensure the payment card is valid before using this payment method. Students may choose this "at distance" payment method to pay from the account associated with their credit/debit card. In this case, payment is online via the virtual payment terminal (VPT) at the University of Zaragoza.

Click on "Record" ("Grabar") to confirm registration. Students may choose between an immediate payment and a three-day delay via a link available from the "Virtual Secretary".

D) Non-Payment

  • Registration is not complete until payment has been received.
  • Failure to pay the full amount (for the single payment option) or the part payment (for the split payment option) will mean registration is cancelled under the terms of current legislation, with the loss of all monies paid and the obligation to pay the outstanding amount should the student wish to register again in the future for this course or any other at the University of Zaragoza.
  • The University will refuse to issue any qualifications or certificates corresponding to those subjects for which the student has payments outstanding. A surcharge may be added to this amount, which will be applied using the interest rate given in the annual budgetary laws.
